my first project.

I have decided my first Christmas project will be stockings for my little family of a boyfriend and kitty. I did a little investigating and found some pretty cute felt stockings.

I found these on flickr...In my searches....I discovered these really cute felt creations on etsy.

this wish hairclip (but more for inspiration for the decor on the stockings) at detailsshop

and this cute hairclip from miaetgigi. Can't you just see it in a 3 year olds hair??

I love felt! You don't need a lot of sewing experience to do a lot of amazing things with it.
Gotta love the colors too! :)

love.

ellie. i wish i could take her home.

"So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,” Mr. Obama said.

vintage vamp.

wasting the last half hour at work...and i think being a little vain...i want to go play with makeup. i want to do it up like halloween again.

my latest obsession.

i die. i can't wait. the book is...amazing.

blue frosting.

I had such a wonderful Sunday....completely lazy and cozy. It was raining (which you can hear well in our house) :) and the leaves were falling from the oak trees like snow.
I made some sugar cookie dough, worked out, watched Contact (yes, the ET movie with Jodie Foster) and then it was time to start cookin'.
Craig is very particular....not in the annoying sense, but he loves this certain kind of frosting his mom makes...(wouldn't touch the ones I made with Royal Icing...a cookie that has "Craig" written on it is still sitting in the cupboard).
He called his mom and got the recipe and then was soooo excited to make the frosting I gave in and let him go for it. He had to have blue frosting!
When he was around 5 years old his mom and her friend were making sugar cookies for Christmas. There were piles of cookies and they were frosting them with red, green and some yellow. He spoke up and wanted a blue cookie....that was turned down, and to this day blue frosting is the best (and only) way to go.

i wanted lime green.

halloween events.

My Halloween kicked off on Thursday night with a pumpkin carving get together at my dear friend Noelle's house. Her sister, mom, dad and nephew (2 yrs!) were there. I have known Noelle since kindergarten, so it feels like going over to my own families house to carve pumpkins...so fun.
This is Noelle...working hard on her second pumpkin of the night!

This is my first pumpkin...It was HARD...have you ever had to try to carve whiskers?! It's amazing they didn't get chopped off! My 2nd pumpkin was the traditional triangle eyes, nose and the gap-toothed grin.
On Halloween I was getting ready to go see my parents and Craig got home early...like at 2! :) We got on our Halloween get-ups and stopped by to see his mom first...since they are just up the driveway. :) She couldn't stop laughing at his surfer-dude wig and later told Craig I looked like I could be in a vampire movie. I used a bluish grey face makeup and looked pretty dead...but a tip...that face makeup...never dries!! I don't have a good picture of Craig in his wig, but I will try to get one and post it. I opted for jeans for this costume, but the tutu is still here...maybe tonight when we hit a Halloween party...but secretly, I just want to go to the craft store and get stuff to play with...oh, and read Twilight! <---I die.
